DPI Founder Larry Graham Named 2023 Media Transformation Challenge Program Fellow

PHOENIX — January 9, 2023 — The Diversity Pledge Institute at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication (DPI) is happy to announce that founder Larry Graham has been named a 2023 Transformation Challenge Program fellow by Poynter.

“It’s a tremendous honor to participate in such a distinguished program that’s led to real impact and innovation in journalism,” Graham said. “And I can’t say thank you enough to the Knight Foundation for supporting me on this journey.”

Fellows started the yearlong program Monday at an in-person kick-off at Poynter under the leadership of executive director Charlie, joined by returning coaches Robyn Tomlin, Amanda Barrett, Stéphane Mayoux and Lauren Gustus.

Throughout the coming year, participants will have the opportunity to identify and pursue some of their most significant business performance challenges with help from MTC’s trademark tools, concepts, coaches, peer group and alumni network, according to a release from Poynter.

According to Poynter, this year’s class of 27 senior executives represent some of the biggest media brands in the world, including ABC News, The Associated Press, BBC, CNN and the Los Angeles Times, as well as leading-edge nonprofit news organizations.

“I’m deeply grateful for this very diverse, talented incoming class, and we’re excited to begin a new set of MTC journeys,” Baum said in the release. “As we enter our 17th year, I want to thank all the program alumni and supporters who helped bring together this particular group of Fellows, and more generally, the AP’s 38 Fellows and ABC News’ 20 Fellows since the program inception in 2007.”
