The Diversity Pledge Institute Unveils New Website

TOLEDO, Ohio — August 31, 2022 — The Diversity Pledge Institute (DPI) today launched a new website with hopes that it becomes a hub for diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility work across the journalism industry.

“When I founded DPI, I knew having a website that introduced journalists from diverse backgrounds to news industry leaders ready to invest in DEIA and funders for this work, was paramount,” said Larry Graham, DPI founder and executive director. “The launch of our new website also coincides with the start of exciting new initiatives at DPI — including the kickoff of a newsroom diversity and inclusion survey. It also positions us to achieve the ambitious goal of establishing our organization as a leader in transforming how DEIA work is approached in journalism”

The new website was designed by CreativeDevs, a Black woman-owned, graphic design and web/app development agency centered on social equity.

“We wanted to take part in uplifting The Diversity Pledge Institute because we believe in their mission to create opportunities for typically underrepresented groups within journalism,” Jennifer Mason, owner of Creative Devs, said. “We all know that representation matters, from how stories are written to who gets to share them. We work with DPI because we want to see a world where we can all have stories told through people who can see the full picture.”

Creative Devs seeks to provide its services to organizations with a social mission that serves an underrepresented client base.

“Working with Jennifer Mason of CreativeDevs to bring our new website to life has been a dream,” Graham said. “It was great to find a developer whose company mission aligns with what The Diversity Pledge Institute is trying to accomplish in the journalism industry.”

The Diversity Pledge Institute launched its first website in the fall of 2021. This latest iteration is the culmination of months of collaboration between CreativeDevs, the DPI staff and the board of directors.
